New Fax Submission Feature

November 15, 2018

As we near the end of 2018, did you ever think you’d see the words “new” and “fax” in the same sentence? For many of us, fax technology may be a thing of the past that last experienced its heyday in the mid-1990s. Back then, emails were still fairly new, so many companies relied on the fax machine as the fastest mode of communication. I even knew people who used to send “love letters” via fax. Can you imagine feeling your heart flutter at the sound of an incoming fax?

Today, our smart phones and tablets can do just about anything, including test backflow devices. To many of us, faxing might seem like an outdated technology. But thanks to input from our customers, we learned that many water purveyors require testers to submit test reports via fax. Based on your feedback, we recently added the ability to fax as one of our test report submission options.

That Was Then, This is Now

Previously, we allowed customers to submit test reports via email, use SynctaOne (our automated online submission tool) or they could print and mail hard copies. The new fax option generates a fax directly from Syncta to a designated fax number. The rest of this blog walks you through how to add a water purveyor's fax number, and how to submit a test report via fax.

Changing a Water Purveyor’s Submission Method

1. To change a water purveyor’s submission method to fax, select Administration from the navigation menu, and then select Water Purveyors.

2. Click Edit next to the water purveyor you want to update.

3. On the Edit Water Purveyor page, select the Fax submission method, and then click Update Water purveyor at the bottom of the page.

Now you’re ready to submit test reports to a water purveyor via fax.

Submitting Test Reports Via Fax

1. On the Dashboard, click Tests Ready to Submit to find recently completed tests that are ready for submission to the water purveyor.

2. On the Submit Tests to Water Purveyors page, select the test reports you want to submit via fax in the Tests to be submitted section.

3. Click Submit Fax to send the fax.
4. To view the status of a faxed test report, scroll to the Submission History section at the bottom of the page.

Faxing – Hurry Up and Wait

It’s important to remember that fax technology still takes about one minute per page to process. If you’re sending a 20-page test report (let’s hope not), be prepared to wait about 20 minutes to get confirmation that the fax was successfully sent. So let’s cue up those dial-up modems and get faxing!
